Listened to Rainbow all day long and it is so great!! Here is a review!!
Rainbow, Mariah Carey's seventh studio long-player, is something like a concept album. Its theme is the various stages of the "emotional roller coaster," as she puts it, of her divorce and subsequent rebound. Carey continues to walk the line between streetwise hip-hop soul and adult-contemporary acceptability, with the former not surprisingly offering most of the disc's high points. "Heartbreaker," the first single, is a likeable piece of bubble-gum R&B with grit borrowed from guest Jay-Z; the remix,with Missy Elliott, Da Brat, and DJ Clue on board, is a different enough piece of work that its appearance only a few cuts after the original version doesn't jar. Another groove-intensive track, the Snoop Dogg duet "Crybaby," is so sly that one hopes the two collaborate again. Of course, it wouldn't be a Mariah record without at least one major lapse in taste; here that bill is filled with a cover of Phil Collins's melodramatic "Against All Odds." --Rickey Wright

Yesterday the signing at Coconuts turned out to be a GIANT fiasco due to the inept handling by the store's management and security people. CALL Coconuts and complain!! Don't let them off easy! Their ineptitude kept many Mariah fans from their chance to meet her in person. People who were there all night and all day. Call the radio stations too!! PROTEST!!!
Today catch Mariah on Entertainment Tonight. Tomorrow she will be on Oprah. Check your local listings.
Early Show Starts Fast But Today 'Careys' Day Wednesday, November 03, 1999 By Paula Bernstein NEW YORK (Variety) - CBS' new ``Early Show'' got off to a solid ratings start Monday, but the day's big winner was NBC's Mariah Carey-boosted ``Today.'' The live concert set by the pop star lifted the usually dominant NBC program to a 5.8 rating/19 share, according to 44-city overnight Nielsen data released Tuesday.

Starts B'way Previews Nov. 2: Swing!
NEW YORK -- Broadway is getting set to jitterbug this fall when it hops onto the 1940s dance renaissance with a new dance revue, Swing!. The show begins previews Nov. 2 and open Dec. 9 at the St. James Theatre.
